  • Details of education programme Samarthanam supports students with disabilities pursue higher education in institutes of their choice. Students are offered end to end support starting from college enrolment into courses of their choice to practical support in terms of fee, digital audio books, scribes, tutors and hostel facilities. Academic expenditure is taken care of and more than 528 students are being supported. Samarthanam also runs a special school for children with intellectual disabilities, equipped with state of the art infrastructure, teaching and learning aids, facility for physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Over 70 children with intellectual disabilities are trained in the basic daily activities and functional literacy making them independent. Samarthanam’s Residential Primary School, established in 2009, accommodates over 200 children from classes 1 to 7, in Bengaluru. Recognized by Karnataka State Board of Education, the School follows Karnataka State syllabus. Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled is currently working on a cutting edge disability-friendly residential school and the land has been allotted by the Government of Karnataka. The key features of the building include complete accessibility, assistive technology, yoga centre, gymnasium and therapy rooms and a hostel for boys. Digital Book Library, started in 2008, is aimed at making education accessible for the people with visual disabilities, dyslexia and verbal processing difficulties.  Show less
