Centralized Kitchen for MDM - Jammu & Kashmir

PROJECT DETAILS

Provision of hygienically cooked, nutritious mid-day meals to government school going children has been a critical catalyst in increasing enrollment, attendance and classroom participation. Presently, the decentralized system of MDM in schools face various problems such as limitations to quality of food as per allotment, lack of assurance on quality, teachers engaged with additional work, etc. Various states have tried the model of centralized kitchen for MDM and have been able to upgrade the quality of meals as well as save time of the school staff. The Government of Jammu & Kashmir proposes to set up 3 centralized kitchens in Jammu Division in partnership with Akshya Patra to cater to 75000 children of government elementary schools.
