Key success indicators : 1. To prevent classroom hunger 2. promote school participation thereby enhance enrolment, retention and attendance 3. Foster social equality and gender equity 4. Improve nutritional levels among children.
Problem statement : Day Meal Scheme is a flagship programme of the Government of India which is implemented in association with the State Government. Under the scheme primary class (I-V ) and age group of students 6 to 10 years and upper primary class (VI-VIII) and age group of students 11 to 14 years of Government and Government Aided schools are served Mid Day Meal in the school. Its aim to provide nutritious and delicious hot food for the children.
Proposed solution : The three major goals for MDM are as under: a) Child nutrition, b) Educational advancement and c) Social equity. In addition, the Mid-Day Meal Scheme should be viewed as an opportunity to inculcate hygiene and sanitation practices among children.
