Problem statement : Essar Oil Limited has forged partnership with Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT) for setting up Navtar Centre for Education Innovation, key objective of which is to promote research and innovation in elementary education in Gujarat. The Centre will be reaching out to as many as 33,000 schools in the entire state. GCERT is a pivotal institution at the state level for the enhancement of qualitative education at primary and secondary schools. IIM Ahmedabad had initiated a project called “Teachers as transformers” a few years ago, which had them documenting more than 10,000 innovations which teachers used to put to use in teaching elementary level students. Starting from 2017, GCERT decided to implement the project directly and signed agreement with Essar Oil during vibrant Gujarat for technical and financial support for effective implementation of the project.

This may involve development of tools and cloud-based content management & content development for dissemination, mobile based technology applications for the use and monitoring of the innovations identified and their application by teachers and its analysis • Supporting Innovation fairs and felicitation of best teachers
