Problem statement : The state has taken up curriculum reforms with improved science curriculum with a focus on improved text books, teaching learning processes, pupil assessment procedures and teacher preparation. The objective is to improve the quality of teaching reflecting the very nature of the subject with more participatory methods. The science being experiential a nature. The processes of discovery investigations have been included in the text book and as well as pedagogy. The ultimate purpose science teaching is to develop interest among children on scientific methods and processes so that it leads to creation of scientific attitude and temper among students.
Proposed solution : The Science is being talk as a subject with a orientation to prepare children for examination. The element of wonder appreciation towards history of science and various inventions and discoveries and not being focused so as to develop interest among children towards science. The very method of science which is inductive and deductive processes are not being used while transacting the science curriculum. Therefore it is required to focus on nature of science so as to transform the teaching learning processes. The focus is on improved science teaching and learning through capacity building of teachers in implementing revised curriculum and text books, conducting experiments, arranging meetings with scientist to the children, running a science magazine with children activities and investigations etc.
