Problem statement : Schools are one of the most important community institutions as they impart learning as well as value to children of India. Government of Gujarat is promoting Green & Sustainable schools to inculcate good values, beliefs and ethos in children from what they see around them and from their teachers and peers. Solar energy is one of the most crucial elements of making a school Green & Sustainable. Solar energy is an important source of renewable energy that is harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture, molten salt power plants and artificial photosynthesis.
Proposed solution : Problem: Electricity is an essential requirement to sustain our villages, cities and us. However, continuous use of fossil fuels for electricity generation has not only led to shortage of power across India but also has resulted in environmental damage. Solution: With schools having large number of rooms and flat rooftops, they can serve as a critical resource for renewable energy, especially solar energy, for their communities. Hence, the proposed solution is to provide Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Grid connected PV System without battery in schools having large rooftop (flat roof) area.
